DLS Deliveries is an Android app that Ink & Iron Apps ("we", "us") builds and operates for the staff and delivery drivers of Direct Landscape Supply. It shows the company's delivery schedule, lets drivers record a delivery's progress, and shows where delivery trucks are. It is not offered to the public: only people with a Direct Landscape Supply account can sign in. This policy covers this app only; our general privacy policy covers our other apps.
You sign in with your Direct Landscape Supply company account through the company's sign-in page in your browser. The app receives your email address, which identifies you to the delivery system, and a key for this phone so it stays signed in. Any administrator can sign a phone out at any time, which makes that key stop working immediately.
The app uses your phone's precise location at two times only:
The app does not collect location at any other time, and never in the background without that notification. Stored truck positions are deleted after two days; the single reading on a delivery record is kept with the record.
When you mark a delivery (en route, arrived, delivered, or a problem), the app records the delivery, the time, your name, an optional note, and the location reading described above. A proof-of-delivery photo, if you take one, is uploaded to the company's server. Photos are deleted after 30 days; the delivery record itself is kept as part of the company's business records. You can also save a note or a pinned drop spot for a delivery site, which other staff will see on later deliveries there.
The app displays the company's own business records about its deliveries: customer names, delivery addresses, phone numbers, order contents and balances. These come from the company's order system. The app shows them to signed-in staff and does not collect them from your phone.
If you allow notifications, the app registers with Firebase Cloud Messaging, a Google service, and sends the server a notification token so it can tell you about schedule changes. The token identifies the app on your phone, not you.
The app keeps a copy of the current day's schedule on the phone so it keeps working without a signal, along with your sign-in key and settings such as which tab opens first. Signing out or uninstalling the app removes them.
Everything the app sends travels over encrypted connections to a server reachable only through the company's sign-in. Each phone has its own key, which can be revoked without affecting anyone else.
The app is for Direct Landscape Supply staff only and is not intended for anyone under 18.
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
